This is a must-watch TED talk by Christina Warinner shows how farming has changed nutrition in our farmed foods.  Unfortunately, the title is misleading.  The importance of her explanation goes way beyond the Paleo diet.  ALso, she’s so close, but doesn’t also connect the same dots re animal husbandry.

IMHO, our nutritional health crisis can be summed up:

The industrial production of our food has changed the nutrition in our foods

  1. Farming has bred plants for taste and lower costs, at the expense of nutrition and the environment
  2. Animal husbandry has bred and raised animals for taste and lower costs, at the expense of nutrition, the environment, and animal cruelty.
  3. Industrialized fish has caught wild fishing and raised farmed fish for lower costs, at the expense of wasted catch (bycatch), nutrition (farmed fish fed unnatural diets), and animal cruelty.
